Download the tool from the downloads page and have your API key ready. See Get your threat feeds. The tool attempts connections to malicious indicators to see if they succeed; it does not download or execute files. Use at your own risk.
Accept the EULA
- On first launch, read the End User License Agreement.
- Select Accept to continue, or Decline to exit.
Acceptance is required to use the application.
Enter your API token
- Obtain a token from the portal or your sales contact.
- Paste it into the token field and select Submit (or Cancel to exit).
A valid token is required to fetch threat intelligence and run tests.
Main dashboard
The dashboard includes control buttons (start test, save results, toggle log, exit), data-type checkboxes (Domains, URLs, IPs), progress indicators, an optional results log, and charts summarising outcomes.
Select data types
- Domains: DNS resolution checks
- URLs: HTTP/HTTPS request checks
- IPs: ping reachability checks
Select only the types that match what you protect (for example domains if you mainly use DNS blocking).
Start a security test
- Select one or more data types.
- Select Start Test.
- Enter how many items to test per selected type (1–1000) and submit.
- The app fetches that many indicators from Q-Feeds and runs the checks concurrently. Start Test stays disabled until the run finishes.
Monitor progress
Watch the progress bar and status label (for example “Fetching threat intelligence data…”, “Running tests…”).
View results
- A summary popup shows totals tested, blocked and allowed per data type.
- Pie charts show blocked vs allowed; click a segment for detail.
- Use Show Log / Hide Log for a per-item result list.
A high allowed percentage means connections to known-malicious resources succeeded. That is a gap in your protection. Review your Q-Feeds firewall, DNS or SIEM setup for those indicator types.
Save results
- Select Save Results.
- Choose a folder and CSV filename, then save.
- Confirm write permissions if save fails.
CSV export is useful for before/after comparisons when you enable or tune Q-Feeds.
